Germany: SV Hamburg star Gideon Jung expected to face Holstein Kiel in Bundesliga 2

German-born Ghanaian star Gideon Jung is expected to be in the starting lineup as SV Hamburg prepares for a showdown against Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga 2.

Hamburg has endured a rocky start to the resumption of the league, winning one, losing one and drawing two games so far. The Hamburg coach Dieter Hecking had been missing some players due to injuries including Gideon Jung and fellow Ghanaian Jan Gyamerah.

Jung, 25, made a return to training last week but was sidelined in his team's 3-2 victory against SV Wehen following his failure to pass the late fitness test.

Gyamerah was absent from Wednesday's training session due to personal reasons but Jung was fully involved in the session, much to the delight of his gaffer who described both defenders as "two grenades in the rear".

The versatile defender made 20 appearances for Hamburg before suffering a devastating muscle injury in the hip flexor last year.
