Founder of Nana Afia Kobi Ampem SC, is looking at getting the mandate to be on the new Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association.
Ms Nsiah Asare aims to make a change in the development of the Women's game in the country and turn things around for the use of football as a tool to break the gender inequality which has existed for some time in the local game.
“I have served in various capacity as far as women football development is concerned, so I believe that if the time has come for us to get a slot on the executive council, I believe I also qualify, because when you talk of women’s football, we are talking of raising sponsorship for the women’s league which I have done for the national teams,"
“I remember in 2016, myself and Nana Banyin Ayison and one other person were able to raise 300,000 (three hundred thousand) for the Black Queens and under 20 before they left Ghana for their various competitions in 2016.
”It is a council that I’m going on, so I believe that if you are able to put together a very good document then you lobby through the council, some money will come so that you can execute whatever you want to do. Apart from that I am good in raising sponsorship, so I will also go round, at least it is part of the corporate institutions to contribute to the development of the nation, so if they want to choose the development of women football, I think it is the right thing they will do, so I will also go to them to get something small, women’s football, we don’t need much to develop it, we need commitment.
“We need people who are committed and I have been committed since 2000 up to date,so I believe that it is time for the women to show me their love so that we work together, I am going to work with all the stack holders, I believe in stack holder consultation and engagement, we will come together so that we make money and develop women football.
She stated how urgent the new Ghana Football Association (GFA) needs to provide the optimal environment which will empower ladies chase their dreams of playing soccer.
Ms Asare Owusu holds a degree in physical education, recreation and sports, has visions to transform her educational background to make women football in Ghana a lucrative career and investment choice, with the mission to identify, harness and develop potential female footballers for educational, economic and social advancement to impact national development.
Education and capacity building, structural development, Grassroots football development, league organizations, stakeholders consultation and engagement, National team call ups, formation of women national team management committee, utilization of FIFA’s development fund, sponsorship and development royalties, strengthening of women football in regional levels are her major targets and directions as she seek to serve on the committee.
She is contesting the position with the former vice chairperson of the women’s league board, Roselind Amoh, former footballer and football administrator Edna Quargraine as well as owner of fabulous ladies Habiba Atta Forson in an election scheduled for 18th October 2019.
