GFA general secretary Prosper Harrison Addo confirms Kotoko players will receive better medals

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo has confirmed that the Ghana Premier League winning team will receive better medals this season.

Last season, it was bizarre at the Sogakope Park during the coronation ceremony to hand over medals and the league title to winners Hearts of Oak.

Social media went mad after the ceremony when the poorly crafted medals given to the players went viral.

This season, Prosper Harrison Addo says there has been an improvement to ensure Asante Kotoko players and technical team members receive better medals.

“This year's policy was to go homegrown so GPL medals were handcrafted by Ghanaian visual artists. Some journos have seen Ghana-made medals. They're heavier than imported ones; an improvement upon last season,” the GFA General Secretary told Via Kessben FM in an interview.

The coronation to crown Asante Kotoko champions of this season’s Ghana Premier League campaign is scheduled for Sunday, June 12, 2022.
