GFA have assured of their support, says Black Stars coach Chris Hughton

Ghana coach, Chris Hughton has reiterated that the Ghana Football Association [GFA] have assured him he will be offered the needed support.

The former Premier League manager has signed a 21-month deal, replacing Otto Addo on March 20.

Hughton has already played two games in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers against Angola last month in a back to back games.

The Black Stars recorded a win in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium before holding the Palancas Negras in Luanda to a 1-1 drawn game in th reverse game.

Speaking in an interview, the 64-year-old credited his backroom staff and added that he has a good relationship with the FA.

He added that the country's football governing body has assured him of their support.

"I have a good backroom staff because if you have a good backroom staff, it makes your work far easier but you would need to have the right people around. People you value and you can trust and I believe that is what I have got," he told SuperSport.

"My dealings with the Ghana Football Association have been good, very open and honest and they have assured me of the support," he added.

Ghana will wrap up their qualifiers with games against Madagascar and the Central African Republic in June later this year.

Chris Hughton will be hoping to lead the Black Stars to end the country's 41 years Afcon trophy drought in Ivory Coast next year.
