GFA will not allow CAF to determine where to play our games - General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo

General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo has reiterated that his outfit will not allow the Confederations of African Football [CAF] to determine where they play their matches.

His comment comes after CAF revoked the license of Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host international games ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers.

According the continent's football governing body, the edifice is unfit to host games.

Ahead of the 2022 World Cup playoff games, CAF granted Ghana a 'conditional' one-game permit to use the Baba Yara Stadium against Nigeria.

Speaking after receiving the letter, Prosper Harrison Addo said we can't allow CAF to determine where we play our matches, and revealed that the Sports Ministry, National Sports Authority and the Ghana Football Association are collaborating to meet the conditions set by CAF.

"We are at a very crucial stage as this issue keeps coming back. The last thing we want to see is to allow CAF to determine where we play our home match," Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.) told www.ghanafa.org.

"The Baba Yara stadium is one historic stadium where the various national teams have chalked incredible success in our football history and so we can’t afford to allow this to happen to us.

"We are having a thorough discussion with the National Sports Authority (NSA) with the Ministry of Youth and Sports providing excellent leadership to ensure that the various conditions are met as quickly as we can.

"The game against Nigeria was a huge success so it is our responsibility to build on it in subsequent matches but before then we all need to put our shoulders to the wheel to get the venue approved for our matches,’’ he added.

Ghana have been drawn in Group E together with Central African Republic, Madagascar and Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana have qualified for the Qatar World Cup later this year.
