Ghana coach CK Akonnor set to hand Gent midfielder Elisha Owusu Black Stars call-up ahead of Sudan clash

Ghana coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor is set to hand Gent midfielder Elisha Owusu his maiden Black Stars call-up following his splendid performances for his club ahead of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan in March.

Owusu has been in fine form since joining the Belgian side from Lyon and has made an impressive 23 appearances for them in the Belgian topflight .

The 45-year-old former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak gaffer has been on European tour, scouting for players for the senior national team ahead of their upcoming assignments.

Coach Akonnor held talks with the player who it is believed is opened to playing for Ghana despite been born and eligible to represent France.

It is believed preliminary talks were held by both parties about a possible call up for the Afcon qualifier against Sudan.

Coach CK Akonnor is expected to name his 23-man squad for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers next month.
