Ghana FA working on getting Tariq Lamptey to play for Black Stars

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) according to its President Kurt Okraku is working on getting youngster Tariq Lamptey to play for the Black Stars.

The defender with immense attacking talent was born in England but is of Ghanaian descent.

At the start of the 2020/2021 English Premier League season, Tariq Lamptey captured the headlines with his outstanding performances for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Although a hamstring injury he suffered in the draw away at Fulham in December has seen him sidelines, he is still highly-rated and tipped to become a future star.

In a bid to have Tariq Lamptey play for the Black Stars, the Ghana FA is in talks with his family.

"Someone like Tariq Lamptey, We have been speaking with his family, to make sure that having identified him as a top talent we will bring him to represent our country," GFA boss Kurt Okraku Hello FM in November 2020.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the English national team has been impressed with the performance of Tariq Lamptey and wants him to play for the Three Lions.

In the past, he has been part of the Youth national teams of England.
