Ghana international Inaki Williams wants experienced defender Inigo Martinez stays at Athletic Bilbao amid interest from Barcelona.

The Spanish international is a subject of interest for the Blaugrana ahead of the summer transfer window.

He is expected to play an important role when Bilbao travel to face Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday night.

Speaking ahead of the game, Inaki Williams reiterated desire to see Inigo Martinez stay at the club despite Barcelona interest.

“My knowledge is the same as yours – from newspaper news only. Iñigo is a very important player in our team. A wonderful and international defender. I hope he stays with us. If FC Barcelona took him, it would be a smart deal from them,” Inaki said.

The Ghana international has been a key asset for Bilbao this season, racking up five goals and four assists in all competitions.
