Ghana head coach CK Akonnor names 30-man squad to start 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September

The head coach for the Ghana Black Stars, CK Akonnor has announced a 30-man squad to start the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled to be staged in Qatar.

After the Black Stars missed the 2018 edition of the global showpiece, the team is working to secure a ticket to ensure it is present at the next edition.

Today, coach CK Akonnor has unveiled his squad to commence the qualification matches in September at a press conference.

The squad made up of some of the old guns and new faces also has four home-based players invited to come and help the team.

Ajax Amsterdam attacker Mohammed Kudus is the notable absentee in the squad. He has an injury and has been excused to focus on making full recovery.

However, with Mubarak Wakaso and Thomas Partey are named in the squad, Coach CK Akonnor should find the right balance to help the Black Stars in the upcoming games.

Ghana is scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021, in Johannesburg respectively.
