Ghana Premier League Matchday 8 Preview: WAFA v Kotoko

Published on: 05 February 2020

West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) will be hosting Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena later this afternoon in a Match Week 8 fixture of the ongoing 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

The home team, known for playing very well at home is confident of getting a positive result today knowing that the Porcupine Warriors will not present an easy challenge.

In a preview to the upcoming encounter, footballghana.com is predicting a tough encounter between the Academy boys and the record Ghana Premier League champions.

After the first 7 matches into the season, WAFA sits 6th on the standings after amassing a total of 12 points. They have managed to win 3 matches, drawn 3, and have suffered just one defeat. Now going into Match Week 8, coach Prosper Nartey and his lads look ready for what will be a cracking showdown.

Their opponent, Kotoko, on the other hand, is having a decent season even though they have disappointed in some matches. Inconsistency on the part of the Reds leaves them sitting 5th on the standings even though they could have been higher up the table.

Coming from a draw against Liberty Professionals in their last match, Kotoko hopes to get the win against WAFA today to ensure they bag the necessary 3 points that will boost their chances of climbing to the top of the table.

The statistics and the form of the two clubs suggest that today's match is going to be a close encounter. Nonetheless, coach Maxwell Konadu and his visiting team look to have the upper hand with the kind of quality they have in their team.

Predicted scoreline:

WAFA 2-3 Asante Kotoko
