Ghana Premier League players can’t meet requirements of the Black Stars - Mohammed Polo

Former Ghana international Mohammed Polo says current players in the Ghana Premier League can’t meet the requirements of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

He believes players in the local league give those plying their trade outside easy pass into the Black Stars.

There have been so much conversations about the representation of Ghana Premier League players in the national team.

However, Hearts of Oak great Mohammed Polo is of the view that the local players are not at the standard to play for the Black Stars.

“The quality of players in the Ghana Premier League cannot meet the requirements of the Black Stars. Unless we resort to the European leagues for players outside of Ghana,” the told Asempa FM.

Since taking over in March 2023, Chris Hughton has handed out one call up to a Ghana Premier League player, Hafiz Konkoni for the game against Madagascar in June.

Hughton is seen at local game centres almost every week.
