Ghana to participate in a four-team tournament in August in Austria - Reports

The senior national team, Black Stars of Ghana is set to play Qatar, Jamaica, and Morocco in a four-nation tournament in Austria in August later this year.

The tournament dubbed (Austria Mini Football Tournament) will be played at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, renamed in honor of Austrian footballer Ernst Happel following his death in 1992.

The competition is expected to kick off from Saturday, August 20 to Friday, August 26, and will see the four participating teams play against each other.

Ghana, Qatar, and Morocco will use the competition to prepare for the 2022 World Cup to be played in Qatar in November and December this year, while Jamaica will use the competition to hone their squad.

With several European leagues set to begin in August, Ghana’s squad for the competition is expected to be dominated by local players.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay for the World Cup.

Ghana will start its campaign against Portugal on Thursday, November 24, before playing Uruguay on Monday, November 28, and South Korea on Friday, December 2.
