Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil cites ‘calmness’ for impressive debut for LA Galaxy

Ghana international Joseph Paintsil has attributed his impressive debut performance for LA Galaxy to calmness.

The Black Stars winger played his first game in the Major League Soccer when LA Galaxy locked horns with Inter Miami at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

Paintsil initiated the attack to help LA Galaxy opened the scoring in the 75th minute through Dejan Joveljic but record Ballon d’Or holder Lionel Messi scored in injury time to rescue his side from defeat.

The former Genk player, who was playing his first game in the MLS delivered an outstanding performance for his side. He won a penalty in the 13th minute mark, unfortunately, Riqui Puig missed it.

“In this kind of situation, I always take my calmness and always ready. It was my first game, and I needed to get that kind of confidence and just come out. If I put a lot of stress in me then I would have been making a lot of mistakes and be out of the game”

Painstil joined the MLS giants in February from Belgium outfit KRC Genk on a four-year deal as a Designated Player.
