Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong happy to score in Bayer Leverkusen big win against Mainz 05

Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong has expressed delight after scoring in Bayer Leverkusen’s heavy win over Mainz 05 on Saturday.

The Dutch-born Ghanaian right-back scored a first half brace as Leverkusen travelled to beat Mainz O5 in the Bundesliga 3-0.

Frimpong's quick-fire goals ensured Leverkusen went into the break with a 3-0 lead, but the second half did not produce any goal as Mainz returned from the break defensively better.

After the game, the former Manchester City player expressed his joy finding his name on the scoresheet.

“Great reaction from all the team after this difficult start to the season! So happy to score again,” he tweeted.

Jeremie Frimpong is having a great start to the season, having played in all four games so far, and has now scored two times for the German gaints.

Born to Ghanaian parents in the Netherlands, Frimpong has represent Holland at youth levels but he is yet to make a decision on his international future.

The Ghana Football Association is reportedly interested in convincing the 21-year-old to play for the Black Stars.
