Ghanaian defender Nana Asare signs contract extension with KAA Gent

Ghana international Nana Akwasi Asare has extended his contract with Belgian giants KAA Gent.

Asare, 32, penned a new two-year deal with the Buffalo lads on Wednesday evening after a fruitful talk.

His new deal keeps him at the Ghelamco Arena outfit until summer 2021.

The former Black Stars left-back is the current skipper of the Belgian top-flight club.

He moved from Mechelen to Utrecht in May 2009. He signed a four-year contract with Gent in June 2013 around a transfer fee of 1.4 million euros.

The experienced player has made 235 appearances, providing 15 assists and scoring three goals.

Born in Kumasi, Asare has played for Feyenoord Ghana, Feyenoord, Royal Antwerp, Mechelen, Utrecht and Gent.

He made only appearances for the senior national team of Ghana between 2007 and 2012. He was a squad member at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
