Ghanaian midfielder Richie Laryea adjudged MLS Player of the Week

Canadian international of Ghanaian descent, Richie Laryea has been adjudged MLS Player of the Week following his impressive performance for Toronto FC on Sunday.

Laryea provided two assists and scored his side's third goal as The Reds defeated Columbus Crew SC 3-1 at the BMO Field.

His goal was of the sensational variety, weaving his way through a number of Crew defenders before putting the ball between the legs of Columbus goalkeeper Eloy Room and into the goal.

This is the 25-year-old's first Player of the Week award. Earlier this season the Toronto native was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 2 during the MLS is Back Tournament.

He has scored four goals and provided two assists in 11 games for TFC.

The midfielder was signed by the Reds following a tryout with the club during preseason of 2019. He was moved from the midfield position to fullback and has turned into one of the best right backs in MLS. He has also become a fixture on Canada’s national team since moving to TFC from Orlando.

He has also been named in the MLS Team of the Week.

Toronto FC are 3rd on the league table with 28 points after 14 matches played so far.
