Ghanaian football fans are calling for the inclusion of Richmond Lamptey in Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Asante Kotoko midfielder was excellent in their matchday 14 game against Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

The former Inter Allies midfielder executed some brilliant passes as the Porcupine Warriors fought back to record a 3-2 win with Steven Mukwala netting a brace with Isaac Oppong also scoring Kotoko.

Lamptey has been one of the few local players who have been consistent in the Ghana Premier League for the past seasons.

And after an excellent performance, football fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to call on Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton to consider inviting the midfielder to the tournament that has been slated to be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.

Meanwhile, Ghana has been housed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.

The 34th edition of the AFXON has been scheduled to kick off from January 13 to February 11.
