Cameron Pring burst down the left and saw his driven cross guided in by Antoine Semenyo in the 17th minute, giving the hosts the lead.

Nahki Wells outmuscled new Blues defender Kevin Long before breaking clean through the center and firing past John Ruddy to make it 2-0 four minutes later.

On 34 minutes, Troy Deeney blasted home a penalty after Pring had taken down Tahith Chong inside the box.

However, Sykes restored the two-goal advantage two minutes after the interval, converting another Pring cross.

On 66 minutes, the former Oxford winger added a fourth, knocking into an unguarded net from Semenyo's pass to the far post.

On 77 minutes, Reda Khadra made his Birmingham debut as a replacement, breaking away on the left and firing past Max O'Leary.

However, it was insufficient for a Blues team that appeared vulnerable defensively.

Antoine Semenyo played full throttle and was booked a few seconds to full time. The Black Stars striker has played 22 games and scored five goals in the Championship this season.
