Ghana’s Issah Yakubu wants to achieve big things with Stade Malien de Bamako in Mali

Former Dreams FC defender Issah Yakubu is poised to help Malian outfit Stade Malien de Bamako achieve big things in the ongoing campaign.

The 25-year-old who joined the club before the start of the season has won his first silverware after helping his outfit to beat AS Real Bamako in the Malian Super Cup.

The Ghanaian defender lasted the entire duration of the game as his outfit strolled to a 2-0 win over AS Real Bamako on Saturday.

Issah Yakubu was a valuable presence at the back for his side sniffing away every danger.

Speaking to Footballghana.com, the enterprising defender shared his joy after winning his first title with the club whiles promising to do more to help his side achieve great things.

“I’m very happy to win the Super Cup with my team. I joined Stade Malien not long ago and being able to help them win a trophy is a plus for me. It is the second trophy in my career so I’m extremely happy. I’m looking to help the club achieve big things” he told Footballghana.com in an interview.

The centre-back joined Stade Malien before the start of the 2023-24 football season from Ivorian club ES Bafing.

The 25-year-old departed Ghana for Cote d'Ivoire last year on a free transfer after his contract with Dreams FC expired at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Yakubu was an instant hit in the Ivorian Ligue 1 with top-notch performances, which attracted the top sides in the country and outside.

The former Ghana U23 player earned a place in the team of the season of the Ivorian championship with his consistent performances.

Despite interest from other clubs, the highly-rated defender opted to join Stade Malien.
