In a heartwarming moment that has captured the attention of football fans, Ghana's defender Jerome Opoku proposed to his longtime girlfriend today, just before he was set to join his teammates for camping.

The camp is in preparation for their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR).

The Black Stars, as the Ghanaian national team is affectionately known, are scheduled to face off against Mali on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako. This match marks the third round of qualifying for the highly anticipated Canada and USA World Cup.

Following their encounter with Mali, the team will return to home soil to take on the CAR in the fourth-round match. This game is set to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a venue that has witnessed many of Ghana's footballing victories.

Ghana's journey in the qualifying campaign began with a narrow 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi. However, they faced a setback in the second group game, losing by the same score to Comoros.

Currently, Ghana occupies the fourth position in Group I with three points, trailing three points behind the group leaders, Comoros.
