Ghana’s Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif confirms receipt of 2022 World Cup money from FIFA

Ghana’s’ Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has confirmed the Ghana Football Association has received all the monies from FIFA for the Black Stars participation in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as its prizemoney.

The Black Stars were among the five African countries that featured at the biggest soccer mundial in the Asian country in December 2022.

However, Ghana suffered early elimination at the tournament after failing to progress to the Round of 16. The West African powerhouse fell short to Portugal and Uruguay who advanced to the next stage.

According to the Sports Minister, the domestic football governing body receiving the prize money from FIFA following the Black Stars involvement in the mundial.

“The GFA has written to the Ministry that FIFA has transferred the prize money of the 2022 World Cup to the FA”

Outlining how the money will be used, Mustapha Ussif said, “We are just about going to AFCON. We also want to improve some sports infrastructure. The FA has written to us that they want to improve the infrastructure at Prampram”
