Going to Africa is a trap - Eric Bekoe warns Kotoko ahead of Caf Champions League campaign

Published on: 30 September 2020

Former Asante Kotoko forward Eric Bekoe has warned the Porcupine Warriors against participating in the upcoming 2020/21 Caf Champions League.

The Reds will feature in the Caf inter-club competition after they were selected by the Ghana Football Association following the cancellation of the 2019/20 football season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kotoko have already confirmed their participation in the competition with some football connoisseurs arguing that it will not be prudent for any club to participate in Africa considering the current state of affairs of Ghana Football.

According to Bekoe, he feels the club is not well prepared ahead of the new season.

"I thought this was the time they will take time and put their house in order before going to Africa. Going to Africa is a trap but we hope everything goes well. In my opinion, they should have pulled out of this year’s competition and prepare well for the next one", he said in an interview as quoted by ghanasoccernet.com.

Asante Kotoko will start full training today ahead of the start of the league and the CAF Champions League in November.
