Great Olympics captain Gladson Awako to have Hearts of Oak medical today

Accra Great Olympics captain, Gladson Awako is expected to complete his medical with Hearts of Oak today.

The former Berekum Chelsea midfielder has been linked to the club all summer following his explosive outings in the just ended Ghana Premier League.

The U-20 World Cup winner was phenomenal for the Wonder Club and played a vital role in ensuring the club maintains its Premier League status.

Following his exploits in the domestic league, Awako was handed a call-up to the senior national team of Ghana by Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double-header qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome.

Awako was linked to Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC this summer but Hearts of Oak have finally won the race to sign the silky midfielder.

The 30-year-old has agreed terms with the Phobians over a two-year deal worth $15,000.

Awako was involved in 13 goals; scoring 6 and assisting 7 including four man of the match awards.

Awako becomes the club's third signing in the ongoing transfer window after Isaac Agyenim Boateng and Kofi Kordzi.

Hearts of Oak are beefing up their squad ahead of their 2021/22 Caf Champions League participation.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak will know their opponent for the preliminary round of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League today, August 13.
