Gunners Legend Latest to Attack Former Club's Lack of Intensity

Following their second successive Premier League defeat last weekend to Manchester City, Arsenal legend Ian Wright had some choice words for the current Arsenal squad.

The former striker, now turned pundit, believes that Arsenal players are letting down star man Alexis Sanchez and questioned the work rate of the players following the defeat.

Speaking on BBC's 606 Podcast, Wright said:I look at Alexis Sanchez. He looks fit and full of running.

Despite going ahead early on through a Theo Walcott strike, a disappointing second-half saw Arsenal forfeit their advantage and City pulled ahead through LeroySane and Raheem Sterling, leaving Ian Wright furious with his former team's work-rate.

You look at other people, and they don't look like they've got the same intensity about them. I don't expect Arsenal players to be as good as Sanchez in terms of skill and ability, but you want them to match his output. If you do that, Arsenal would be doing a lot better.

The Chilean forward has been a stand-out performer for Arsenal scoring 14 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions.

Although contract negotiations are currently underway between Arsenal and Sanchez to try and secure an extension, rumours of a January exit and whispers of the 28-year-old being unhappy with life at the Emirates could spell the end of Sanchez's time in North London.

This recent result has seen the Gunners slip to fourth place, nine points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Arsene Wegner will be hoping his side can bounce back from their setback as they prepare for a Boxing Day clash against West Brom at home.
