The Sporting Director for Hamburg SV, Michael Mutzel says he is thrilled with the contract extension deal signed by highly-rated defender Stephan Ambrosius.

The Germany-born centre-back who is of Ghanaian descent has been at the Bundesliga 2 club since his teen age and is now an integral member of the team.

Today, he has agreed to a new contract that will see him playing for Hamburg SV until the summer of 2024.

According to Sporting Director Michael Mutzel, the club is thrilled with the latest agreement with the towering defender.

“Stephan has worked hard to become a key player for us in the past few months. He fought his way back from a nasty ACL injury and has only improved since then.

“It’s always a proud moment for the club when a player from the HSV academy plays for the first team. As such we’re very happy that Stephan will stay with us long-term,” Michael Mutzel said in an interview as quoted on the club’s official website.

Stephen Ambrosius, 22, is keen on improving his game even more to help Hamburg SV secure promotion to the German Bundesliga.
