Hearts of Oak board backing Martin Koopman because we believe he can do the job - Frank Nelson

Hearts of Oak board member, Frank Nelson Nwokolo, has revealed the board are backing Dutch coach Martin Koopman, because they believe he can help can do the job despite their challenging early-season phase.

Koopman stepped into the position of head coach, taking over from Serbian predecessor Slavko Matic, who left in the wake of a series of disappointing outcomes. Initially, David Ocloo assumed the role of interim coach after Matic's departure but later parted ways with the club at the end of the previous season.

Although Koopman's appointment initially ignited hope among Hearts of Oak fans, fueled by the team's strong showing in pre-season matches, this momentum is yet to translate into success in the league. In his initial three matches at the helm, Koopman has faced two defeats.

Nwokolo has affirmed that the board stands firmly behind the Dutch tactician, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to his leadership despite the team's challenging start to the season.

“He will do the job. I am sure he can do the job. When you check his CV, there is no doubt he will deliver. We (the board) are backing the coach because we know he can do the job,” he told Max FM
