Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu has expressed his excitement after beating 10-man Bechem United in the final to retain the MTN FA Cup title on Sunday.

The Phobians sealed a record 12th FA Cup trophy at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh's 60th minute strike secured a 2-1 win for Hearts after Caleb Amankwah cancelled out Emmanuel Avornyo's early lead.

"I say a big thanks to Hearts of Oak family, board and everyone. It wasn't an easy task, being in the top wasn't it, the most important was to win the trophy and go to Africa but some didn't understand. Working, definitely they will be criticisms but kept us going," coach Boadu said after the game.

"Bechem have a strong team, very young side, they are compact in midfield and on the flanks so we had to deploy a strategy to contain them. We decided to bring Obeng in the second half to hold them."

"No one is leaving as at now but definitely we will make some inclusions before the end of the season. We have qualified for Africa again and is the second consecutive seasons  we are doing that so we've had a successful season." He added

Samuel Boadu becomes the first coach to retain the title since the late Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefi achieved the feat in 1999 and 2000
