Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu has disclosed what he told Sulley Muntari before their match week 19 Premier League game against WAFA on Wednesday.

According to Boadu, he asked the former Inter Milan midfielder to score having failed to find the back of the net in his previous games for the club.

Muntari netted for Hearts in the 76th minute to give the defending champions their first win in the second round of the Ghana Premier League. He stepped up and converted a penalty to make it 2-1 for Hearts to cancel Derrick Antwi’s equalizer

“I spoke to Sulley [Muntari] and told him to score a goal,” coach Boadu said in his post-match presser.

“His input in the game, his passes and every work he puts in are good.

“I never expected Sulley Muntari to last longer in our games. “Against Kotoko, he played 80 minutes, against RTU he played 79 minutes.

“Sulley is less than a month into full scale training and as a player who has been absent from football for long, we thought he would be rusty.

“Sulley Muntari is too aggressive and disciplined on the field of play. “Every responsibility you give out to Sulley is well executed so for scoring today’s goal, I’m happy for him and I believe more goals will come.”

Hearts of Oak will travel to Dormaa to take on former Ghana Premier League champions, Aduana Stars in their next league fixture.
