Accra Hearts of Oak were beaten 2-1 by Inter Allies in their 107th Anniversary Cup with interim coach Seth Hoffman in charge of his last match of the side on Sunday.

Hoffman, who will be succeeded by Kim Grant left his role as Hearts of Oak interim head coach with a defeat

On Thursday, Hearts unveiled the former Ghana International as their new head coach and Technical Director after he signed a three-deal with the Phobians.

The former Ghanaian champions are the oldest existing football club in Ghana founded on November 11, 1911, but Ghana Premier League side Inter Allies spoiled the party at the Team Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak failed to impress at the same venue they were beaten 1-0 by Inter Allies during the first round of the Zylofon Cash Premier League in which Richmond Lamprey’s solitary strike won the contest for the Tema-based side.

Midfielder Alex Aso broke the deadlock in the 12th minute before Victorien Adebayor doubled the lead in the 68th minute.

Adebayor who was captain of Inter Allies produced a superb performance to inspire his team to victory whilst Malik Akowuah the interim captain of Hearts of Oak could not rescue his side.

Tony Quayson pulled one back for the Phobians in the 75th minute but failed to mount a comeback as the game ended 2-1 with Hearts of Oak fans disappointed.
