Hearts will be stronger when my players return from national team duties – Kim Grant

Head coach for Accra Hearts of Oak, Kim Grant has stressed that his team will be much stronger when his key players return from national team assignment.

Four of the top players of the Phobians –Joseph Esso, Fatawu Mohammed, Mohammed Alhassan, and Benjamin Afutu- have all been away with the Black Stars B team for the last one month.

Due to that, the team went into their clash with Great Olympics in the 2019 Homowo Cup a bit weaker. Nonetheless, the Rainbow lads still managed to dominate the ‘Dade Boys’ and went on to lift the enviable trophy at the end of the day.

Sharing his thoughts in a post-match interview, Kim Grant noted that he is happy with the result and the input of his players because they missed the services of key first-team members.

He shared, “The players have been distracted throughout. First of all, I had 8 players with the national team gone for two months. I had players from injuries, I had new players embedding into the team. So, of course, there is no cohesion yet”.

Coach Grant is confident everything will be sorted out and the Hearts of Oak team will be stronger when he gets his full squad together.

“We have that our philosophy in our DNA and we controlled the game like I said and we just have to be clinical in front of goal.

“But I believe that when the other boys come back, the squad is going to be even stronger and then we are going to go and hopefully we will be successful in the new league”, he added.
