After the 1-1 draw, head coach Sandro Schwarz gave an explanation for what occurred in a news briefing.

"We just wanted to take a footballing approach against Freiburg. Prince also filled this role very, very well,”

Most recently, the midfielder only played for a few minutes and was always on the bench. But he's also important for the team outside of the game.

"He's been a leader for us all year. That's what we wanted to have on the pitch from the start against a very difficult opponent," Schwarz added.

Boateng will likely not start in Hertha Berlin's crucial Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig. Hertha Berlin is currently in the relegation playoff zone with 22 points after 26 games.
