HSV organises anti-racism workshop with Stephan Ambrosius

Bundesliga club HSV on Tuesday evening gathered the young players of the U12 and U13, followed by the U14 and U15, to approach and comprehend the words xenophobia and racism in a 60-minute digital discussion with Bundesliga star Stephan Ambrosius, like biases, resentment, and discrimination arose.

At the same time, the topic of racism in football was also addressed in the discussion, with the youngster from Hamburg and current Bundesliga player Stephan Ambrosius giving insights into his experiences, his thoughts and how he deals with everyday racism.

The aim is to develop an understanding and questioning of discriminatory behavior among young people through such concrete examples.

The 23-year-old Ambrosius reported, among other things, about his personal career, his cultural connection to Ghana, his youth in the Hamburg district of Wilhelmsburg and his very personal dealing with prejudice and racism. After the young talents had first listened to his words carefully, they had time to ask questions at the end of the event.
