Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo has revealed his delight after receiving a late callup to play for South Africa.

Due to injuries and COVID-19, coach Hugo Broos gave the opportunity to Ngcobo who is in line to feature against the Black Stars on Monday.

"We all know that most of the time we always say when that time arrives, you get excited to be in the Bafana Bafana squad," Ngcobo said.

"So for me to be here, I am always ready to play for Bafana," he added.

"I was at home because Kaizer Chiefs had given us a break, so was not in Johannesburg when I got a call to come."

"So I had to pack quickly and travel to Johannesburg."

"It means a lot to be here it means a lot to the people who believe in me," Ngcobo added.

"Even myself I always wanted to play for Bafana, so now the time has arrived and I am happy to be here with Bafana Bafana," he concluded.

South Africa will battle Ghana at the FNB stadium at 4PM on Monday in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
