Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has revealed that he was haunted for two weeks after receiving $1million in cash as his signing-on fee from a Russian club in 2004.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak winger disclosed that he could not speak or sleep after officials of oil-rich Russian side Krylia Sovetov Samara handed him his signing-on fee in cash 13 years ago.

“I couldn’t sleep for two weeks after I was given one million cash after signing my contract in Russia," Laryea said in an interview on the Football Legends Nights Show on GHOne TV.

"They brought the money in cash but I asked them to pay it into my account and they said I should deal with it.

“For two weeks I couldn’t speak and had to change the position of the money every day on my return from training at the hotel."

The journeyman spent a year at Krylia Sovetov making 15 appearances before moving to another Russian team Terek Grozny in 2005.

Laryea Kingston also went on to have stints at seven more clubs including Lokomotiv Moscow (loan), Heart of Midlothian and Vitesse Arnhem.
