I felt great joy for my whole family - Nico Williams on Spain call-up

Spanish-born Ghanaian, Nico Williams says he was elated when he was named in Spain's squad for upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Switzerland and Portugal later this month.

Nico, who is the younger brother of Inaki Williams, was included in a 25-man squad.

The 20-year-old has made five appearances for the U21 side and four times for U18 and scoring twice.

"No I had no idea I was on the pre-list. I felt great joy for my whole family and I'm going to perform here", he said. I thank him (Luis Enrique) for this opportunity and I'm going to give my best on the field."

He added, "I'm very happy to be here, I found out when the call came out. My parents and my entire family are proud of me and now we have to keep going.

"I have my feet on the ground, I want to work, let the coach see me, I have to keep going.'
