Mensah, a former Crystal Palace youth player, joined the Plainmoor outfit after spending the first half of the season at The Gulls' National League opponents Maidstone, as well as previously played for Ramsgate, Weymouth, and League One club Morecambe.

Torquay's coach is similarly thrilled to add another strong man to his defense lineup for what is already set to be a busy second-half of the 2022/23 campaign, having previously shown himself at this level and earned over senior 100 matches at the age of just 22.

Speaking to the club's website after passing his mandatory medicals and signing his contract Jacob Mensah said he looks forward to working with coach Gary Johnson and using his experience to also help his teammates.
