According to him, it was to satisfy his thirst for a new challenge after spending several years in Kumasi.

“I wanted to face a new challenge but I don’t have a problem with Asante Kotoko. I just want to move on to a new challenge. I never had a problem with Kotoko,” the centre-back told Ghanasportspage.com.

Abdul Ismail Ganiu continued, “The fans of the club should forgive me because I can’t disclose all the issues. We can’t destroy the club. They should forgive me because we can still work together again. There’s no truth about whatever they said concerning my departure. I don’t have a problem with the club but they should forgive me because of how I left.”
