I was always motivated to score goals - Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan

Former Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan has revealed that his biggest motivation was to score goals.

The 37-year-old is famously known to be a prolific goal scorer.

Gyan scored some wonderful goals in every club that he has played for and the national team.

Speaking in an interview, the former Udinese Calcio striker revealed that his biggest motivation was to score goals.

“When I left Sunderland, I joined Al Ain and then I joined Shanghai SIPG but my motivation was to score in every game,” Gyan told Premier League Productions.

“Sometimes I'll be down but I was always motivated to score,” he added.

Gyan scored Ghana’s first World Cup goal against Czech Republic during the 2006 World Cup in Germany as the West African country recorded a 2-0.

He scored a thunderbolt goal against USA in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa that sent the Black Stars to the quarterfinal stage of the tournament in a 2-1 win.

In his last Mundial appearance in Brazil, Gyan scored in Ghana’s 2-2 draw against eventual winners, Germany.

He remains the country's all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals. Gyan last played for the Black Stars after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Egypt.
