I'll work harder after Africa Cup of Nations experience – Richmond Lamptey

Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, says he will work even harder after his experience at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The 26-year-old was one of three Ghana Premier League players to be named in the squad for the just-concluded tournament.

Speaking to his club after the tournament, Lamptey said,” It’s not easy but as a professional player you should be ready for anything. The more the expectations, I’ll work extra hard,” while talking about increased expectations.

Despite many calls for Lamptey to be deployed during the tournament, head coach Chris Hughton did not use him in a single game.

He was one of three local players named in Ghanas final squad for the tournament in Ivory Coast.

Ghana missed out on a place in the Round of 16 after finishing third in a group consisting of Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.

The Black Stars lost 2-1 to Cape Verde before back to back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique confirmed Ghana’s elimination from the tournament.
