In-form Bibiani Gold Stars striker Abednego Tetteh targets Black Stars call up

Bibiani Gold Stars striker, Abednego Tetteh says he is aiming for a call up the senior national team, the Black Stars ahead of the next edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Cote D’Ivoire.

The former Hearts of Oak and Bechem United forward is currently the Ghana Premier League top goalscorer with 16 goals in 27 league appearances.

According to him, he is confident of replicating his form on the domestic scene to the national team if the opportunity arises, despite missing out on Chris Hughton’s final 24-man squad for the next two Afcon qualifiers against Madagascar and Central African Republic.

“Yeah for sure, if I get the opportunity I would be happy, I got the opportunity in 2017, but I was dropped at the last minute," he told Citi Sports.

“I think if the time is due, I would be honoured. I will be happy if I get that opportunity.

“I can hear so many Ghanaians yearning for me to be given an opportunity with the national team, I hope it comes to pass, if not we still give thanks to God.

“I will not be disappointed if it doesn’t happen, any called up to the national team deserves to be there, if the person deserves it more than I do, it is fine.

“Sometimes you have to learn from failures, and then it will elevate you to success.

“I think I have gathered more experience from Hearts of Oak and King Faisal in that period to be a better player," he added.

Tetteh will be hoping to keep his goalscoring form intact when Bibiani Gold Stars play as guests to Karela United next at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park on Sunday, May 4, and wrap up the season at home against Accra Lions at the Dun’s Park.
