Inaki Williams least cares about his consecutive games record in La Liga – Athletic Bilbao’s Inigo Lekue reveals

Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Lekue says his teammate Inaki Williams least cares about his consecutive games record in the Spanish La Liga.

The new Black Stars striker sprained his ankle, his first injury since 2016 on Monday when Bilbao inflicted a 4-0 win over the home team and is a doubt for Sunday’s game against Espanyol.

He scored the opening goal and missed a penalty before he was forced off the pitch. He was substituted in the 54th minute.

Despite being spotted running on Thursday, the forward remains doubtful for the clash against Espanyol.

According to Inigo Lekue, the Ghanaian striker will not force himself to play against Espanyol in an attempt to keep his record.

"Iñaki is trying to get there but yesterday I spoke to him precisely about the matter and he told me that the least he cares about is the record", he explained.

For 'Leku' "it's a very nice personal mark and what has been achieved is impressive, but the first thing is that Iñaki is well and that he can play and contribute everything he gives us in each game, and from then on if he can't make it, he won't to force to force just to continue enlarging the record",

The 28-year-old record of most consecutive games in the Spanish La Liga is in jeopardy due to the injury setbacks.

He holds a record winning streak of 236 in the Spanish top-flight.
