Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) boss, JY Appiah, has painted a depressing picture of Ghana's football landscape, describing it as "in tatters."

In an interview with Peace FM, monitored by Footballghana.com, Appiah highlighted several issues that have marred the integrity of the sport in the country.

One of the heated incidents he cited was Real Tamale United's use of unregistered players in a league match. This, he suggested, was a clear violation of the rules that have gone unaddressed.

Appiah also raised concerns about alleged match-fixing incidents on the final day of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season. He lamented that the predictability of certain events, such as the awarding of penalties, has become a worrying trend in Ghanaian football.

"The football is in tatters when the man (Kurt Okraku) came he said he can't work with his enemies anybody who speaks when things are going bad and you open your mouth then people insult you," he said.

"When we started doing football some of them weren't born so I don't want my grandson to insult me so those that when they see something wrong and will say it have all folded their arms and watch. Ghana were we are playing football commentators can predict when a penalty will come and a penalty will come.

"RTU used unregistered players to play football nobody is talking when you ask those in there they will say when you speak you are out your team will go to relegation. Ghana football is in tatters,"
