We didn't have enough time to prepare for the 2023/24 season - Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum

Asante Kotoko's coach, Prosper Ogum, has expressed his concerns over the lack of adequate time to prepare his team for the 2023/24 season.

In a recent interview with Peace FM, monitored by Footballghana.com, Ogum revealed that the club had to rush its recruitment process due to time constraints.

He further explained that the players were sourced based on recommendations and that the club attempted to combine physical, tactical, and technical training to compensate for the limited preparation time.

"We didn't have enough time which I think everybody is aware of we had a gate crashing program where we had to as early as possible try an bring in players and players based on recommendations," he said.

"Initially, I was of the view that if we try to do a combined training that will be enough for us to be able to cover up when I say combine physical, tactical and technical training which we did but the period was too short for the players to assimilate or accommodate the content of the training.

Especially it was so because these players where coming from Division Two and Division One sides the training content methods they were not used to it we even had somebody Somuah who was coming from a colts club and coming to play for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

"So the period itself to prepare for the season wasn't enough but as technical staff or coaching staff we did our best to make sure that we could get them to find their rhythm,"

At the end of the 2023/24 season, Asante Kotoko finished 6th on the league table with 49 points.
