Inter Milan Plot Summer Bid for Barcelona Full Back Despite Lengthy Injury Lay-Off

Published on: 19 February 2017

Inter Milan are keen on signing injured Barcelona full-back Aleix Vidal in the summer, according to reports inItaly.

The 27-year-old was finally given his chance in the Barcelona first-team at the turn of the year but he was dealt a huge blow after suffering a gruesome ankle injury during Barca's 6-0 win over Alaves.

Vidal had previously been cast out by head coach Luis Enrique, who preferred to use Sergi Roberto as a right-back instead of the former Sevilla man.

And now, with Vidal sidelined until summer, the Barca boss has reportedly lost all hope in the player's success at Barca and therefore is happy to move him on in the summer.

One of the clubs leading the race for the Spaniard is Inter Milan, who have failed to buy a world-class right-back since Javier Zanetti's retirement in 2014.

Although Barcelona paid around £18m for Vidal in 2015, it's likely that he will be sold for less as a result of poor form and injury concerns.

Barca currently occupy 2nd in La Liga, one point behind Real Madrid who have two games in hand, while Inter sit in 4th in Serie A, 13 points adrift of league-leaders Juventus.
