It is freshening to be Asante Kotoko captain - Richard Boadu

Richard Boadu has admitted that he is excited and freshened to be Asante Kotoko's captain.

The 25-year-old following his move from Medeama SC in 2021 has become a key figure for the side.

Boadu won the Ghana Premier League title in his debut season with the Porcupine Warriors under Prosper Narteh Ogum as the head coach of the side.

Following the departure of former captain Abdul Ganiyu Ismail, Boadu was confirmed as the new captain of the team.

Boadu expressed his joy at being appointed as the captain of Kotoko, acknowledging that being a player for the club is no easy task.

“Being an Asante Kotoko player itself is not easy. So, I was very happy when I was appointed captain of the side. It’s now in the records,” Boadu told Kumasi-based Kessben Sports.

He also recognized that being a captain entails additional responsibilities and pressure.

However, as a focused player, Boadu embraced the challenge, aiming to demonstrate his abilities and make significant contributions to the success of Kotoko.

“At some point, it’s scary because it comes with additional responsibility and pressure. As a player who was focused on handling that responsibility, I was okay with it because I wanted to do something to prove that I could do something great for Kotoko,” he added.

Throughout his two-year tenure at the club, he has made 60 appearances and scored two goals for the Reds.
