Athletic Bilbao forward, Inaki Williams has disclosed that it was his grandfather who convinced him to play for Ghana at the senior national team level.

According to him, it was, however, very difficult for his parents to accept his decision to be a Black Stars player.

"It was not easy for my parents to accept (playing for Ghana), but my grandfather helped me make the decision. He wanted to see me fulfill my dream, to see myself as a 'Black Star' in the Ghana national team. Everything I achieve with this team will be for him,” Inaki Williams revealed in an interview with The Athletic.

Since completing his nationality switch, Inaki Williams has been a regular in the Black Stars.

He is part of the final 26-man squad of the Black Stars in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

On Thursday, the striker featured for Ghana in the Group H game against Portugal.

Despite the efforts of the Black Stars, they lost 3-2 to the Portuguese opponent.
