Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has said it is a dream for him to lead the senior national team, the Black Stars to win the continent most prestigious trophy, the Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon].

The West African country are four times champions, winning the last edition in 1982 in Libya.

The team has, however, played in the 1992, 2010 and 2015 finals but has failed to win the ultimate.

Ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, the Black Stars team has been tasked by President Akufo Addo to end the 39 years trophy drought.

And according to the former Swansea City and West Ham United forward, it is his dream to lead the Black Stars to win the ultimate.

He stressed that he will need the support of his teammate to make this dream a reality.

"It's a dream to win the Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon], but I can't do it by myself, without my colleagues and the technical team I am nothing," the 30-year-old told Accra based Joy FM in an interview.

The next Afcon has been scheduled to kick off next year in Cameroon.
