It's good to see Right to Dream become reference for political manifestos – Founder Tom Vernon

Right to Dream Founder, Tom Vernon, has expressed delight that the project he started 25 years ago is becoming a reference for national manifesto by a major political party in Ghana.

Last month during the launch of the Youth Manifesto of the opposition National Democratic Congress, the party said they are “going to integrate sports into our classroom activities...

“President Mahama is committed to mainstreaming sports development in our schools and communities. Similar to the Right to Dream Academy, this involves training more technical personnel and providing the necessary infrastructure to support talent development.”

Reacting to the mention of Right to Dream in its manifesto, Tom Vernon said it is great to see the project become a national reference.

“Right to Dream has become a reference point for national manifesto strategies for both the NDC and NPP,” Vernon wrote on LinkedIn.

“World class development of the abundantly talented youth is the only viable core strategy for the development of Ghana in my opinion so it’s great to see this.

“We have been working for 25 years to become this reference point so it’s important to note the right structures will not bear fruit in one election cycle.

’A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit’.”

“And so it is with youth development. If we plant the right trees the shade will be immense.”
