Former Ebusua Dwarfs coach, J.E Sarpong has called on the Ghana Football Association to overlook Ghanaian coaches in their quest to replace Avram Grant.

There have been agitations in the media landscape for the appointment of a local coach for the senior national, the Black Stars, as numerous foreign coaches have failed in winning the ultimate for the country.

Kwesi Appiah, has been the latest local coach to handle the Black Stars leading the team to the 2014 World Cup but was fired after the tourney paving way for Avram Grant who also parted ways with Ghana on Tuesday after failing to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

GFA is currently on the hunt for a new coach with pundits calling for a local coach to take over but J.E Sarpong thinks otherwise.

” I don’t think the GFA will go in for a local coach, if you look at the terrible way in which Kwesi Appiah handled by the GFA during his spell with the Black Stars, which of course include some unprintable words by the media.”

He added: “I don’t think the GFA will have confidence in appointing a local coach but will certainly go in for a foreign coach.” Sarpong told Asempa FM.

The four Africa Cup of Nation trophies won by Ghana have all been masterminded by local coaches hence the call for a domestic tactician to restore the Black Stars to glory days.
