Jack Wilshere's Attempt to Console Mario Gotze Goes Seriously Awry

Published on: 28 February 2017

Jack Wilshere made what appeared to be a classy move when he heard of Mario Gotze's recent injury.

Earlier this week, Dortmund revealed that "metabolic disturbances"are behind the Germany international's persistent muscular injuries and that he will be sidelined "for the time being".

The Arsenal and Bournemouth midfielder, who is all too familiar with time in the medicalroom, thought he was joining the army of well-wishers on Twitter.

But he made a hilarious mistake.

Instead of using @MarioGoetze “ an account with 3.6 million followers “ Wilshere tagged an inactive page with 537 followers.

Thankfully, Wilshere's blushes were partially spared as he managed to get the right account with his tribute message on Instagram.

25-year-old England international Wilshere is currently on loan from Arsenal at Bournemouth. The midfielder has been able to stay injury free so far this season, which is nothing short of a miracle considering he played only 105 times for the Gunners in eight years.

His current side are in free fall in the Premier League and will likely continue their plummet to the relegation zone as they travel to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
